Abstract
The aim of this work is to learn how Teacher Training Colleges (Kindergartner and Primary levels) develop their educational practices since the implementation of digital technologies. This research focuses mainly on the analysis of the careers of Kindergarten and Primary level courses offered in one Teacher Training College from the province Buenos Aires – that is, where future kindergarten and primary level teachers are trained.
The main objective in this work is to know the students’ and teachers’ uses and appropriations of digital technologies of the kindergarten and primary level teacher training courses in the ISFD n° 29 from Merlo, during the period 2008-2019, and detect new educational practices. The research begins with the change in the curricula of the already mentioned careers and it finishes the year prior to the COVID19 pandemic. To account for the main objective, we identify and describe the technological equipment and the staff of the ISFD n°29 related to the implementation of digital technologies, we compare the students’ and teachers’ access and their ability to use technologies, we establish the uses of technology that teachers and students do, we inquire about the way teachers and students appropriate digital technologies, and we study the educational practices that include digital technologies.
To fulfill the main objective, we combine quantitative and qualitative strategies of data collection. Besides, we conduct observations, interviews and surveys on the headmasters, administrative staff, and teachers and students from the teacher training college under study. This combination of approaches and techniques has as its goal to obtain a general picture of the studied phenomenon and, at the same time, to observe in detail each educational practice developed in the teacher training college.
