Abstract
In this study we analyzed the organization of work and the role of knowledge in projects for the development of software production of small and medium Uruguayan enterprises (SMEs), from a perspective that takes into account local and situational characteristics.
In this process, part of the qualitative methodology, conducted interviews with members of the selected companies by focusing on their work activity. This empirical material is articulated with the conceptual framework that is built from different theoretical perspectives (current cognitive capitalism, Italian autonomist and sociology of work) and responds to the complexity of our object of study.
The results obtained, corroborate our hypothesis: in the production, model that functions as hegemonic in selected companies, are typical practices of the Taylor / Ford period in coexistence with others, belonging to the productive paradigm of cognitive capitalism and this situation creates significant contradictions. We argue that this model responds to institutional rules and settings that are determined by the interests of the dominant economic sectors but also that they have to adapt to the social and cultural conditions of political, financial and technical. Therefore, as claimed by the current cognitive capitalism, they can be opened loopholes for economic rationality leave room for other types of rationales and methods of production with collective sense.
