Abstract: This final monography inquires about Spinoza‟s conception on physics and the consequences that this conception would have on political model proposed by the author. In efect, the study of bodies‟ behaviour and the rules that govern the extension constitute one of the foundations of the ethics, according to the author. In order to do that, firstly, we study how Descartes understood physics. It is fundamental to do this because Spinoza uses Cartesian concepts and notions. Secondly, we give account of how Spinoza picked up Descartes‟ influence in his work The principles of Cartesian philosophy (1663), in order to search if, effectively, the dutch author reformulated in some extent the physical postulates of the writer of Metaphysical meditations. Thirdly, we analyse Spinoza‟s physical conception in his magnum opus, Ethics (1675), looking for the possibility to find a physics different from Descartes‟ one, and, therefore, an original one. The objective of this study is to examine if physics has an incidence in politics, just as the dutch author understands it, and, if it has it, to explain it in detail. As a result, it will be seen that Spinoza‟s physics, that is, an immanent and necessary physics that take into account compound bodies, allows to understand politics in scientific terms and to conceive the existence and behaviour of collective agents. Facultad de Ciencias Sociales Subject The topic of the resource Corporalidad Multitudes Estado Política Filosofía Teoría política Description An account of the resource Esta tesis busca estudiar el estatuto del sujeto político en el pensamiento de Baruch Spinoza. Fil: Ricci Cernadas, Gonzalo. This thesis aims to study the status of the political subject in the thought of Baruch Spinoza. In order to do that, it is divided into three chapters concerning the body, the multitude and the State. Each one of these concepts allows to analize in detail the way the political subject is displayed. In this sense, it is mentioned the difference regarding the physics as it was understood by Rene Descartes, and it is elucidated how Spinoza built an own physics in Principles of Cartesian philosophy and in the 13th proposition of the second part of the Ethics. Whilst it is also a reunion of bodies marked by the same affect, the political subject is investigated in second place as multitude. Thus, it is explained the affective dynamic that constitute the multitude and it is described how it is characterized in the Theologico-political treatise and in the Political treatise. Finally, given that the power of the multitude defines the State, in third place both aceptions of power (as potestas and as potential) are inquired in Spinoza, to subsequently detail how the state instance is presented in the afromentioned treatises and to theorize the function that the State would play in a democratic regime. Thus, we understand that the multitude can be conceptualized as a composite body and that the State is constituted as its necessary effect. Table Of Contents A list of subunits of the resource.
