Las interpretaciones más abundantes que se han hecho a esta y otras tecnologías similares sugieren que afectan la privacidad de los individuos. En consecuencia, estos estudios plantean la necesidad de regular, en materia jurídica, las prácticas de recopilación de datos. Sin embargo, esta lectura no deja de ser problemática. Principalmente, esta interpretación estudia parcialmente el aparato técnico y, por el contrario, deduce hipótesis a partir de elementos externos. En contraste, la presente tesis busca desplazar la mirada y el foco más allá de la lectura jurídica y legal. Por tanto, el “Me gusta” es comprendido acá como una tecnología de gobierno, en el sentido foucaultiano de la palabra, cuyas raíces pueden rastrearse en la estética del siglo XVIII y en la economía política del XX. Para ello, la hipótesis de lectura de esta tesis parte de un desarrollo metodológico que privilegia el análisis del objeto técnico de forma genealógica. Así, centrada en conceptos como gubernamentalidad, sociedades de control y gubernamentalidad algorítmica, la presente tesis inscribe esta función de Facebook como una tecnología propia de las sociedades de control, pero cuyos rasgos y modos de operación pertenecen a una racionalidad algorítmica. The Facebook Like Button was enabled on 2009. It is a feature that collects data about likes of users. Until now, research has found that this kind of technologies affect the user’s privacy. Consequently, these studies propose new layers of protection and frameworks of regulating the use of Big data. Nevertheless, these studies are problematic. The foremost problem of this interpretation is the partially study of the technical object. Therefore, this kind of analysis deduces hypothesis of external elements. Conversely, this thesis aims to read the Big data beyond the legal and policy problem. In consequence, the like button is understood as a government´s technology, in accordance with Foucault, which roots are in the Aesthetic studies in the 17th century and in the political economy in 20th century. For this reason, the hypothesis of this thesis includes a focused methodology in the technical object and genealogy. Using concepts like governmentality, society of control and algorithmic governmentality, this thesis analyses the Like button as a technology of the societies of control, but with tools and modes of an algorithmic rationality.
