This research addresses Mapuche youth trajectories toward the recognition and construction of their identity. On the one hand, these trajectories are permeated by their predecessors’ experiences, and on the other, by what has been discursively installed in the Chilean society about the Mapuche people. That is why the need for recognizing and analyzing these trajectories arises, and to contribute to a knowledge of the Mapuche struggle, while also recognizing those critical knots that emanate from it, using the analysis of Mapuche youth’s stories. The development of this research is based on group interviews of young people in higher education from rural areas in the Araucanía Region and from urban areas in the Metropolitan Region, as well as semi-structured interviews with Mapuche academics, who from their personal and investigative perspective, narrate their reflections on these trajectories that circulate in different directions.
