Se compone de cinco aspectos analíticos que, en conjunto, pretenden fundamentar las preguntas de investigación y el contexto que organizaría los hallazgos de potenciales indagaciones al respecto. El primero se refiere a las concepciones de niñez en diversas disciplinas pertinentes. El segundo aborda las definiciones y clasificaciones del maltrato infantil incluyendo una propuesta alternativa de formas de dicho maltrato. El tercero expone algunas de las principales explicaciones del maltrato infantil en general. Un cuarto aspecto considera el marco normativo internacional y nacional. This work is intended to present a theoretical framework that provides some elements for the characterization of the institutional approach to child abuse in a highly complex pediatric hospital. It is made of five analytical aspects that, together, are determined to support the research questions and the context that would organize the findings of potential inquiries in this regard. The first aspect refers to the conceptions of childhood in several relevant disciplines. The second feature addresses the definitions and classifications of child abuse, including an alternative proposal of ways of such abuse. The third point conveys some of the main explanations of child abuse in general. The fourth characteristic considers the international and national regulatory framework. The fifth trait deals with the fundamental dimensions of the current institutional approach to child abuse in a highly complex pediatric hospital. Finally, the implications of the elements provided by these five sections are exposed, regarding a potential investigation taken from the social work contemplating child abuse in a highly complex pediatric hospital.
