Argentina Description An account of the resource El objetivo principal de esta tesis es describir y analizar representaciones en torno a la buena maternidad en textos de la cultura de masas argentina como espacios de construcción, reproducción y articulación de significaciones sobre emociones, prácticas y roles sociales de género, en los que se confirman y tensionan las normativas culturales sobre la maternidad. Estos sentidos contribuyen a configurar el escenario de valoración social sobre la maternidad y el maternaje en un espacio y tiempo determinados y proponemos observar los modos en que esto se produce. Para desarrollar este objetivo, se realiza un análisis crítico de discursos de diferentes fuentes de las industrias culturales que circularon en el período 2007-2018. La selección de los textos considera que los variados relatos sobre la maternidad pueden agruparse entre sí a partir de identificar regularidades y correlaciones en los enfoques desde los que la abordan, los tipos de enunciación que presentan, las temáticas que incorporan y los géneros en los que es factible inscribirlos. En este trabajo establecemos la escisión entre tres regímenes de representación -que denominamos repertorios- a partir de la sistematización de sus rasgos composicionales y estilísticos dominantes. Se observan, por un lado, los invariantes del repertorio aludido como experto que, como tradición cultural heredada del siglo XX, normalizó el establecimiento de pautas y consejos de actuación materna en textos de divulgación de saberes especializados como manuales, revistas, publicidades y programas televisivos. En tanto este conjunto instruye a las madres sobre lo que deben y no deben hacer, por lo que enseña la buena maternidad, aquí se interpretan las ideas y formas con que se producen los sentidos implicados en él. Por otro lado, se aborda un conjunto de narrativas emergentes en los inicios del siglo XXI que –a través de textos literarios y audiovisuales de ficción y no ficción- conforman el repertorio que llamamos catártico cuyas obras, orientadas por relatos biográficos y humorísticos, dialogan críticamente con el modelo estabilizado de la buena maternidad al visualizarlo inalcanzable y por la insatisfacción que genera intentar adecuarse a sus preceptos. Finalmente, se observa otro conjunto de retóricas enmarcadas en el relato de la vida materna de figuras famosas de los medios masivos que agrupamos en la categoría repertorio espectacular. Estas historias, producidas con lógicas del género periodístico “chimentos y espectáculos”, como el escándalo y el melodrama, presentan itinerarios sobre acciones, emociones, prácticas y vivencias relativas a los modos en que se llegó a ser madre o en que se ejerce el maternaje, y polemizan en torno a ellas. El período de análisis toma como punto de inicio el año 2007, en el que se identificó la publicación del texto fundante del repertorio catártico, y finaliza en 2018, año en que irrumpió masivamente el aborto en las agendas del espacio público. La decisión considera que el surgimiento del repertorio catártico implicó una inflexión discursiva que, al identificar el modelo materno idealizado como un verosímil narrativo en crisis, configuró paulatinamente un nuevo verosímil simbólico que representa los malestares presentes en las formas actuales con que las madres negocian y concilian las exigencias de la buena maternidad. El recorte evalúa también que en 2018 se inauguró otra inflexión discursiva que, a diferencia de los textos del análisis, fue incorporando con mayor énfasis la problematización de la maternidad como condición inherente y destino obligatorio de las mujeres. Asimismo, se observó que en 2018 las revistas maternales -productos históricos del repertorio experto- iniciaron su retirada del mercado editorial, lo que se consideró un parteaguas, o por lo menos una fisura, respecto a lo que puede ser dicho públicamente en torno a la maternidad en los años subsiguientes. Los repertorios identificados se producen en un tiempo de deliberación y discusión pública sobre las opresiones y desigualdades estructurales basadas en los géneros y las sexualidades, que implicaron transformaciones –aún en proceso- en la comprensión de las relaciones, los roles y las identidades de género, así como cambios en los comportamientos reproductivos, las formas de construir familia y/o de evaluar las experiencias maternas, que aglomeraron tensiones sobre el sistema de significados y valores históricos instituidos sobre la maternidad. Al analizar la convivencia en las industrias culturales del repertorio experto, el catártico y el espectacular, e interpretar cómo se retoman, producen y/o delimitan simbólicamente sentidos sobre formas de actuación, trayectorias, sentimientos y posiciones habitables para las madres, esta tesis reconstruye una de las modalidades en que se expresa la contienda pública sobre la definición social de la buena maternidad en el espacio público contemporáneo. The main objective of this thesis is to describe and analyze representations of good motherhood in Argentine mass culture texts as spaces of construction, reproduction and articulation of meanings about emotions, practices and gender social roles, in which cultural norms about motherhood are confirmed and tensioned. These meanings contribute to configure the scenario of social valuation of maternity and motherhood in a given space and time and we propose to observe the ways in which this occurs. To develop this objective, it is carried out a critical analysis of discourses from different sources of the cultural industries that circulated in the period 2007-2018. The selection of texts considers that the varied narratives on motherhood can be grouped together by identifying regularities and correlations in the approaches from which they deal with it, the types of enunciation they present, the themes they incorporate and the genres in which it is feasible to inscribe them. In this paper we establish the division between three regimes of representation -which we call repertoires- from the systematization of their dominant compositional and stylistic features. On the one hand, we observe the invariants of the repertoire referred to as expert that, as a cultural tradition inherited from the 20th century, normalized the establishment of guidelines and advice for maternal action in texts for the dissemination of specialized knowledge such as manuals, magazines, advertisements and television programs. As this set instructs mothers on what they should and should not do, so it teaches good motherhood, here we interpret the ideas and forms with which the meanings involved in it are produced. On the other hand, we address a group of emerging narratives at the beginning of the 21st century that -through literary and audiovisual fiction and non-fiction texts- constitute the repertoire we call cathartic, whose works, oriented by biographical and humorous stories, critically dialogue with the stabilized model of good motherhood by visualizing it as unattainable and by the dissatisfaction generated by the attempt to adapt to its precepts. These stories, produced with the logic of the journalistic genre of gossip and entertainment, such as scandal and melodrama, present itineraries about actions, emotions, practices and experiences about the ways in which one became a mother or in which motherhood is exercised, and they polemicize about them. The period of analysis takes as its starting point the year 2007, when the founding text of the cathartic repertoire was published, and ends in 2018, the year in which abortion massively burst into the agendas of the public space. This decision considers that the emergence of the cathartic repertoire implied a discursive inflection that, by identifying the idealized maternal model as a narrative plausibility in crisis, gradually configured a new symbolic plausibility that represents the discomforts present in the ways in which mothers negotiate and conciliate the demands of good motherhood. The clipping also evaluates that in 2018 another discursive inflection was inaugurated which, unlike the texts of the analysis, was incorporating with greater emphasis the problematization of motherhood as an inherent condition and obligatory destiny of women. It was also noted that in 2018, motherhood magazines - historical products of the expert repertoire - began their removal from the publishing market, which was considered a watershed, or at least a fissure, with respect to what can be said publicly around motherhood in subsequent years. The repertoires identified are produced in a time of deliberation and public discussion on structural oppressions and inequalities based on gender and sexualities, which implied transformations -still in process- in the understanding of gender relations, roles and identities, as well as changes in reproductive behaviors, ways of building family and/or evaluating maternal experiences, which agglomerated tensions on the system of meanings and historical values instituted on motherhood. By analyzing the coexistence in the cultural industries of the expert, cathartic and spectacular repertoires, and interpreting how senses about forms of action, trajectories, feelings and habitable positions for mothers are taken up, produced and/or symbolically delimited, this thesis reconstructs one of the modalities in which is expressed the public dispute over the social definition of good motherhood in the contemporary public space.
