Las travestis en lucha : un recorrido por las investigaciones que abordan sus condiciones de vida

El presente trabajo tiene por objetivo indagar sobre las investigaciones que abordan las condiciones de vida de la población travesti en la Argentina. En particular, dentro del mencionado colectivo nos centraremos en aquellas travestis y trans* que se autoperciben e identifican con el género femenino. Comenzaremos nuestra tarea con un breve recorrido que reflexiona sobre la categoría de género, ese análisis nos permitirá abordar la noción de travestismo y definir los conceptos de travesti como categoría política y trans* para referirnos a nuestras sujetas de estudio. Una vez definidas, abordaremos la conformación del estado de derecho, para luego comprender el posterior avance en materia de políticas públicas y legislación para el colectivo LGTBI. Estas definiciones nos servirán de marco teórico para contextualizar y analizar las diferentes investigaciones que se realizaron en nuestro país desde 1999 al 2017 sobre la población trans*.

Abstract

This paper aims to explore the social research that address the living conditions of the transvestite population in Argentina. In particular, we will focus on those transvestites who self-perceive and identify with the female gender. We will begin our task with a brief account of the category of gender, this analysis will allow us to address the notion of transvestism and to define the concepts of transvestite, as a political category, and trans* to refer to our subjects of study. Once defined, we will address the formation of the rule of law, to then understand the subsequent progress in matters of public policy and legislation for the LGTBI collective. These definitions will serve as a theoretical framework to contextualize and analyze the different research about trans* population carried out in our country from 1999 to 2017.
