Abstract

The Argentinian Labor Movement has been subject to several analyses and research works which studied its influence in unions and the problems caused by its interaction with other parties. However, the academic bibliography that investigates and questions about political expressions does not abound. That is, academic studies that develop and analyze political proposals made by workers (or labor organizations.) Therefore, the Master’s Thesis main aim will consist in the explanation of workers’ political expressions, placing emphasis on their possible governmental actions if they might be part of the Executive Power. In order to achieve this aim, it will be analyzed the General Confederation of Labor (CGT for its acronym in Spanish) National Programs between 1955 and 1968: La Falda (1957), Huerta Grande (1962) and 1° de mayo (1968.)

National Programs analysis will not only comprise the interpretation of these proposals for action, but also an economic, social and political contextualization for the purpose of describing the country and the Labor Movement general situation. Thus, the political expressions of Argentinian workers will be explained based on the premise that CGT National Programs constitute the most reliable implementation of said phenomenon. Also, it will be analyzed the factors that encouraged workers to perform projects including government measures that aim to solve the country’s difficulties. On this matter, the Labor Movement development, the importance of national ideologies, the influence of Peronism upon workers and unions, the participation of new social sectors in politics and main events and debates of this period will be tackled in this Thesis.

Finally, conclusions will try to define workers political expressions. And, in case that the information collected is not enough, more elements of study will be incorporated to explain this phenomenon. Additionally, topics studied in this Thesis may promote new areas of social investigation in which concepts as Argentinian Labor Movement, political expressions and national awareness will be linked.
