Abstract
The aim of this paper is to provide knowledge about the ways in which violence against women is addressed, the strategies generated to provide assistance, and how the registration of cases is done in public institutions in the areas of health, police and social services.
The analysis is carried out in the department of Lanus, because it has institutions that provide assistance and develop some kind of record in these areas. However, no official details identifying the size and characteristics of the problem locally, or the coverage of the installed services, nor the impact generated on the population by the policies developed. The existence of certain ideological, political, institutional and technical-methodological mechanisms, that stand in the process of preparing the data, hindering the production of valid information, and finally, hide gender based violence.
The contribution of this thesis is also, the proposal of a detailed recommendations for the building of a methodology implemented through the articulation of the various institutions that make up the local network of victim assistance, that would allow the use of dispersed, incomplete and not comparable information into conceptual and methodological homogenized data, required for the planning, development and evaluation of policies, aimed at preventing and eradicating women based violence.
