Abstract
The thesis deals with the implications of social and educational inequality in the future of high school students in Argentina from an intergenerational perspective. This is a comparative study among young people from different social sectors and various forms of education in the provinces of Salta, Neuquen, city and province of Buenos Aires. The main idea of the research was to deepen the relationship between education and work inquiring about the opportunities, constraints, choices and decisions on future education and employment of young people attending school.
The research was conducted from a survey of empirical material of secondary data on economic, labor and educational indicators, serialized in periods extended to 10 years and surveyed primary data through a survey to penultimate year students of high school and in-depth interviews with students and family groups from educational establishments included in the study at any given time. The methodological approach was based on the triangulation of data sources and different methodological techniques (quantitative and qualitative). Working with various sources of information enabled the contextualization of future expectations of students and their families.
The study aims to contribute to the analysis in the field of sociology of education and youth, as well as to encourage the development of actions and policies to improve the living conditions of young people.
