La memoria, una casa que gira : infancia y exilio en las últimas dictaduras de Argentina y Uruguay

Esta tesis explora las memorias de infancia de quienes fueron niños y niñas durante el exilio de las últimas dictaduras en Argentina (1976-1983) y Uruguay (1973-1985). La tesis procura aportar al debate sobre la experiencia generacional dentro del campo de estudios sobre la memoria a partir de la inclusión de la mirada, experiencia y reflexiones de los entonces niños y niñas, en tanto sujetos también protagonistas del exilio, actores sociales y agentes históricos. La experiencia del exilio, por lo general, es mirada y estudiada desde una idea sobreentendida de la adultez de sus sujetos. Si bien fueron los adultos quienes orientaron la ruta del exilio, muchos niños y niñas también fueron parte de esa experiencia. Explorar las memorias de quienes han atravesado la experiencia del exilio durante sus infancias nos permite adentrarnos en los modos en que niños y niñas de entonces han sido también protagonistas del proceso histórico y de la vida cotidiana familiar. En el recorrido de la tesis pretendí recuperar las memorias de infancia para explorar en los modos en que se inscribe subjetivamente la experiencia del exilio. Así, esta tesis indaga en las narrativas que afloran con el trabajo de rememoración para considerar las escenas evocadas y las lecturas que los adultos de hoy, ofrecen sobre su pasado. Desde una perspectiva biográfica y a partir de entrevistas, la tesis busca iluminar algunos rasgos biográficos que son asociados a la experiencia del exilio durante la infancia que, mientras son conservados, también van cambiando con el devenir del tiempo y las biografías. De este modo, las memorias de la infancia en el exilio se proponen como “casas” que alojan rasgos de una subjetividad singular atravesada por la experiencia del destierro.

Abstract

This thesis explores the childhood memories of those who were children living in exile during the last dictatorships in Argentina (1976-1983) and Uruguay (1973-1985). The thesis seeks to contribute to the debate on generational experience within the field of memory studies through the inclusion of the perspectives, experiences and reflections of people who were boys and girls at the time, considering them as subjects and protagonists of exile, social actors and historical agents. The experience of exile, in general, is viewed and studied from an understanding of the adulthood of its subjects. Although the adults guided the route of exile, many children were also part of that experience. Exploring the memories of those who have gone through the experience of exile during their childhoods allows us to delve into the ways in which boys and girls of that time were also protagonists of the historical process and of daily family life. Over the course of developing the thesis, I have tried to recover childhood memories to explore the ways in which the experience of exile is subjectively inscribed. Thus, this thesis investigates the narratives that emerge from the work of remembrance to consider the scenes that are evoked and the readings that today's adults offer about their past. From a biographical perspective and through interviews, the thesis seeks to illuminate certain biographical features that are associated with the experience of exile during childhood that, while they are preserved, also change with the accrual of time and biographies. In this way, the memories of childhood in exile are proposed as "houses" that give lodging to features of a singular subjectivity traversed by the experience of exile.
