Abstract
This thesis deals with the forms of state regulation of religion in the province of Buenos Aires, based on the analysis of offices whose specific function is the articulation with the cults in their territory in the period 2001-2019. Prioritizing the analysis at a local scale, I study the province of Buenos Aires in the trajectory of its Provincial Directorate (later Area) of Cults since its creation, to record the municipal dynamics of Buenos Aires from there, dwelling on the particularities of three local cases: La Plata, Florencio Varela and Quilmes. Thus, I seek to account for the way in which this link occurs, how it is part of the configuration of the State in its different levels of government and how it intervenes in the perception of religion, promoting secularism (as a strict separation between religions and the State), encouraging religious pluralism (as a formal recognition of diversity) or contributing to the construction of a hierarchical scale of religions legitimized by these interactions. For this I use a qualitative approach, which includes a review of sources, interviews and participant observation in state and religious spaces.
