Prácticas de las bibliotecas universitarias argentinas en el proceso de comunicación académica : representaciones en la web

Las prácticas de las bibliotecas universitarias argentinas del sector público y privado, involucradas en el proceso de comunicación académica, se estudian a partir de sus representaciones en los 123 sitios web de bibliotecas, activos en el momento de la observación, con el objeto de indagar acerca de las tensiones que se desarrollan dentro de dicho proceso, y que posibilitan establecer: cómo se representa la imagen de la biblioteca, cómo se incluye o excluye la producción de conocimiento científico y cómo se establece el diálogo con los usuarios.

De esta manera, se trata de estudiar la conformación del campo de las bibliotecas, como un sistema de relaciones con ciertas regularidades que le dan la singularidad al campo y desde esta perspectiva se entiende la noción de práctica.

Se analizan, en primer lugar, las prácticas sobre la imagen de la biblioteca representada en los discursos sobre la “misión” que aparecen en la web; a continuación, se explora la representación de la producción científica, que se expresa a través de la oferta y el acceso a los recursos electrónicos desde los sitios web, dando lugar a prácticas que son el resultado de acciones de selección, organización, recuperación, difusión, y circulación de la información que tienen una amplia y reconocida trayectoria en el ámbito de las bibliotecas; y por último, se estudia la interacción entre las bibliotecas y la comunidad universitaria en su condición de usuarios, observando el contrato de lectura propuesto en la web.

Se concluye el estudio, con aportaciones críticas al modelo cultural imperante en la actualidad en el campo de las bibliotecas, caracterizado como: cerrado en su propio discurso, de carácter técnico excluyente y en transición hacia su resignificación.

Abstract

The practices of the Argentine university libraries of the public and deprived sector, involved in the scholarly communication system, study from their representations in the 123 libraries web sites , current assets at the moment of the observation, with the intention of investigating about the tensions that are developed within this system, which they make possible to establish: how the image of the library shows, how scientific knowledge production is included or excluded, and as the dialogue with the users settles down.

This way one is to study the conformation of the field of the libraries, like a system of relations with certain regularities that give the singularity him to the field and from this perspective the notion is understood of practice.

They are analyzed, in the first place, the practices on the image of the library represented in the discourse on the “mission” that appear in the web; next, the scientific production representation is explored, that express through the supply and the access to the electronic resources from the web sites, giving rise to practices that are the result of selection , organization, recovery, diffusion, and circulation of the information actions, which they have extensive and recognized course in the field of the libraries; and finally, the interaction between the libraries and the university community as its users studies, observing the contract of reading proposed in the web.

The study concludes, with contributions critics to the prevailing cultural model at the present time in the field of the libraries, characterized like: closed in its own speech, of excluding technical character and in transition towards its meaning new.
